Online Appraisal

D. Hello from Wv, my 5 year old and I love to treasure hunt and we recently plowed up a small garden plot and found a bunch of old marbles, pennies and things today she was digging and found this 1945 Mercury Dime we was so excited and wanted to try and figure out value of this country I've saw some with full bands sell over 4 thousand this has full bands I cannot tell what the letter is on it but it looks like a W and I have had no luck finding info on any with a W, also when I flip it over from front to back it appears the back is upside down I don't know if it's just how it was printed or what but very curious to get info on her find! Thank you

An interesting year. Yes, full SPLIT band specimens are rare and valuable, and negotiable if certified. Yours however has bands with wear, due to a weak strike and circulation wear. I assure you it's worth about a dollar and a half. The designer was Adolph Weinman, hence, the "W." Great that your hunting together outdoors!!

Most inquiries we get are about circulated coins made after 1971, and/or coins where people mistake post-mint damage and wear for "errors". You can expect us to affirm these are face value.
