We kindly ask you to limit your request to ONE item, preferably with images of both sides. We specialize in items that are older and of some historic importance. Please include photos of both sides if possible.

We may use your appraisal on our site as reference for others with the same item(s). We'll never display your personal information and will remove all sensitive information from your submission. Please contact us for a private appraisal. View our privacy policy.

Most inquiries we get are about circulated coins made after 1971, and/or coins where people mistake post-mint damage and wear for "errors". You can expect us to affirm these are face value. We ask that before you write and submit such questions, to PLEASE first read through our existing postings and our "what it's worth" primers.

D. 1942 wheat penny

With S mint mark for San Francisco. Worth a few cents in today's market.

D. 1991 lincoln penny with the words "states of" stamped above america

As the letters appear recessed and reversed, I am surmising that someone put one coin on top of the other and gave them a good bang with a hammer. The letters of the other coin made an impression. A far likelier explanation than a mint mistake.

D. I have this 1966 kennedy 1/2 dollar. That has a major mis print error! I have searched the internet thoroughly and cannot find another one like it. I think it might be a one of a kind. The mis print is that it has double obverse or obverse on both sides and no reverse. No mint mark! Please email me and inform me about my coin. Thank you!

What you have is a "magician's coin," a novelty where two heads have been sandwiched together. I know it's convincing but far likelier than a mint error that's largely undocumented. You could try to get it certified but the grading company is likely to side with me on this one.

D. Lettering at top looks smudged

Put your glasses on or take them off, depending on whether you're wearing them. But really, it looks pretty sharp to me in all honesty.

D. Is the d filled in

And what if it is? Happens all the time but doesn't add value in this case.

D. Errors between letters and numbers

Damages often confuse this errors.

D. A complete portrait collection

These can be had for 10 or $15.
