This is called "coin orientation." If you check the rest of your change, or other coin produced by the U.S. government, you'll see you're in good company. Now if you find one with medal orientation, I'm in.

i have a quarter dollar 2000-P 25C Virginia coin with a 180 error where the other side if flipped horizontally the other side is upside down. the coin is on a 80% visual condition. i received it in a store as a change.
