The easiest way to determine large versus small date is to look at the 8. On a small date, the top loop of the 8 is smaller than the bottom loop. The image you submitted shows a penny where the loops of the 8 are similar in size making it a large date cent. Considering the condition, this is not worth much more than face value. If it is copper it could be worth a bit more than zinc. You can tell by the weight, copper is about 3.11 grams and zinc 2.5 grams.
