Q. Wondering if it is really worth it to get a 1992 D penny with slight doubling graded? Or how much it is really even worth. Not wanting to pay to get it appraised if it’s not worth the cost of appraisal. Looking for suggestions I guess

Dear god no, spend it. I wish people would read all the information I have on my site at the top center of the homepage before submitting questions like this. You can save yourself a lot of trouble.

Q. Second 2022 rare coin dime chin and neck as well as others please tell me what you thin

That you already found two should tell you to spend them.

Q. How can I see if my coins have any value

By showing them to us? By reading our tutorials? For real?

Q. What's the average wait for a appraisal on a penny?

I try to answer all requests in 24 hours or less. But most cents we are asked about are face value; people skip reading our tutorials and submissions criteria. That’s a shame.

Q. I've read through your FAQs and don't have high expectations for the small coin collection I inherited from an uncle who was a flea market vendor. I've looked through them and have the requisite bag of wheat pennies, dimes, and buffalo nickels and also some liberty and peace silver dollars and paper currency. No one in my family is interested and I do not want my children to have to go through these bags of coins when I am no longer here. Would you evaluate and/or buy a small collection? I just don't want to deposit these in a bank account. Thank you!

Sure. Where are you located? You can call me at 914-649-3317 to discuss. How can I reach you? Marc

Q. Do you take stamps at all?

Yes.

Q. I read that collectors are starting to be more interested in toned coins if naturally toned I have a few Lincoln Pennie's starting from 69-99 only missing a couple years in between is this true? and if so what's my best options to try to sell them

They are, but mostly for uncirculated silver. We don’t have any advice for selling common, modern coins.

Q. I have a coin collection left by my late husband. I’m not sure what is in the collection, it may not be anything valuable but I think I should have them looked at. Is that something you can do? Do you charge a fee? There are roughly 75 coins. Thanks.

I can discuss the coins with you and get an idea of what you have from talk or pics. If we think you would benefit from an appraisal or offer we can schedule a visit to my 10706 office. I would only propose a paid appraisal if the value is significant and it would benefit you. We also handle jewelry, gold is high. So why don’t you send me your #/and/or a few images, or tell me how to reach you. Marc, 649-3317 (area code 914).

Q. Yes I have coins that my father left behind in a box. He wrote restrike on the cardboard not sure about the coin. I noticed that it seems printed odd in a few spots the IN for in god we trust are pretty much one punch together with no spacing, the D mint mark is filled in, and part of the lettering on the bottom isn't struck very well. T is hard to tell if it's a T in the middle. Just wanted to know if this was something to hold onto or get graded.

Have you read what we have published about these things on our site? Because of the abundance of questions we get about post mint damage and generally low associated values we don’t address these things. Why don’t you bring it to a show or club. We will be at the upcoming Parsippany show. If your father really thought it was a great value he probably would’ve done more than leave it in a box for you to wonder.

Q. I inherited a significant coin and stamp collection from my father. I'd like to bring it all somewhere for appraisal and selling, but it's easily several thousand coins and not the easiest to move around. I started documenting them in a spreadsheet, but barely scratched the surface after several hours.Any advice?

Kenny, I would not waste too much time analyzing it. If you call me at 914-649-3317 I can help you tailor a plan for maximizing revenue. Or tell me how to reach you. Many coins get grouped and it does not necessarily matter what date or many mark they are. You can organize them by denomination, e.g., put all the dimes together, but honestly, the less you handle them the better.
