Submit An Item For Free Appraisal

We kindly ask you to limit your request to ONE item, preferably with images of both sides. We specialize in items that are older and of some historic importance. Please include photos of both sides if possible.

We may use your appraisal on our site as reference for others with the same item(s). We'll never display your personal information and will remove all sensitive information from your submission. Please contact us for a private appraisal. View our privacy policy.

Most inquiries we get are about circulated coins made after 1971, and/or coins where people mistake post-mint damage and wear for "errors". You can expect us to affirm these are face value. We ask that before you write and submit such questions, to PLEASE first read through our existing postings and our "what it's worth" primers.

D. I was wondering if you could advise if this is an error struck coin or not. I thank you in advance for your knowledge. Steve

Hard to say. First off, even if it is, it's not very dramatic and would not be likely to add much value. It's important to know whether that circular line is depressed (goes into the coin like a valley) or raised (sticks above the surface, like a ridge). It appears to be the latter, suggesting something pressed into the coin. That could easily be an event that took place after the minting process, which would be regarded as damage or alteration, not an error. So the unsatisfying answer is: it's ...

D. A friend of mine told me this coin was a rare coin and worth something. I was just wondering if they were correct. If you could please tell me more about this coin I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

What is your friend willing to pay for it? Because I'm afraid all I see is a 1982 cent. They made seven small cents that year, in two alloys, bronze and zinc. All of them are common.

D. 1944 wheat penny no mint ( misprint in the word "of")

Looks like damage, a dig of some kind. Not part of the minting process.

D. This quater is in very good condition wondering if it has the double die error or where I can go in person to check

No need to travel. As a silver quarter it's worth about $4. No errors of significance.

D. has this on front and back.. its in perfect condition..the date is...2026

2026 now that's cool! Though I'm skeptical. It would be worth a lot for the next five years, then a cent, I think... never came across a post-dated coin before.

D. 2026

Seems like you're afraid to show it!

D. 2026

Ah that's better. No, it's 2020, perhaps with a die scratch. Nothing special I'm afraid.

D. Hello. Can you tell from a photo if this is real or counterfeit? I can send other side if still needed. Thanks.

Hard to tell. It looks a little fishy to me, my guess is not. It should be 26.73 grams, or close to it. It should NOT be attracted to a magnet. This looks a little too even in color and dull in features, has a cast appearance.

D. Mint Error. Obverse: Roosevelt is bald. Reverse: Large blank spot.

Hard to say. It definitely has a lot of wear but also could be struck through grease. Nothing we're going to retire on, for sure.

D. Subsequent to last inquiry. Mint error. Roosevelt is bald.

Well he might also just be worn, the end result is the same.
